“Break the chains of your thoughts and you break the chain of your body too” from the book, “Jonathan Livingston seagull by Richard Bach”.
I’m so touched and in awe of this book that I just couldn’t resist myself from choosing this as my next write up “Follow your dreams”. Dreams …Dreams….Dreams… full of mystery, like a jigsaw puzzle waiting to be unravel ….like a secret waiting to explode…taking you to a place strange…far-away….giving those indications where you are supposed to reach…that you are worthy of.
So before I go any further let me just give you all a gist of this “must read” wonderful fable of Jonathan Livingston Seagull by Richard Bach.(In the gist, the under quotes are actual writers expression from the book.)
It is about a Seagull who dares to dream differently from other Seagulls and who dares to go against the standard norms , set patterns and way of life and its struggle to achieve those dreams and be the inspiration for others to follow theirs.
Jonathan Livingston is not an ordinary Seagull, he is different, he wants to fly high, to falter… stall which otherwise is a disgrace for his flocks. When all the other Seagulls have just one aim in life which is to fly for food….. For Jonathan more important is to fly high for fulfillment and to realize higher purpose in life rather than just to fly for getting bits of stale food.
His dream is to stretch his wings in the open sky, to explore and overcome his limits in the air. To discover the unknown, the unexplored heights of flying high without any thought of failure or death, without any fear in his mind, he wants to unfold and experience the beauty, joy and power of speed.
Every minute of his life he was discovering new techniques, new skills; Discovering the loop, the slow roll, the point roll, the gull bunt, the pinwheel and the breakthrough of flying 214 miles per hour.
Every flight that he made was taking him out of the ignorance of excellence; intelligence and skill that his fellow gulls were living with.
He was not ashamed of his achievements and was not sorry for the price he had to pay to bring his dream into reality.
Despite, of being thrown out of the gull society for violating the dignity and traditions of gull family. He continued to learn and explore each day new altitudes of his perfection ….with each high speed dive he was able to dine in on rare and tasty fish and with each high ride was able to feast on delicate insects.
His journey to perfection, lead him to discover other gulls who thought like him and so he helped them to realize that, “we are free to go where we wish and to be what we are thus they began to understand what they really are and began to practice it”.
He believed that, “we need to keep finding ourselves , a little more each day, that real unlimited us”.
He realized that, “boredom, fear and anger makes one’s life short” and that, “you don’t love hatred and evil, you have to practice and see the real gull, the good in every one of them and to help them see it in themselves, that’s what LOVE IS “
He insisted that, “don’t believe what your eyes are telling you. All they show is limitations. Look with your understanding, find out what you already know and you’ll see the way to fly”.
I so agree with every under quotes that writer has expressed and his belief that we all have that Jonathan Livingston within us…. one who wants to soar high up in the sky , to unveil and cross over the limits that we all are chained to.
We human beings from day one of entry in this wonderland called earth, create boundaries around us of limited thinking, behavior, relations and what not. Despite of these limitations we still dream every day, every night to become somebody or to attain that higher level of completion and self-satisfaction.
So why do we let these limitations be a part of our lives….. Why do we create a standard road map in our minds to walk on it entire life?
Why do we forget that those road maps were also created by someone who dared to discover the unknown…?
The unknown which is hiding within us.. The unknown we could never explore … the unknown which if ever was known could have given that contentment that we all look for around us.
So let that unknown be known this time without any fear of its outcome….repercussions… just once let yourself be you……how you want it, follow your heart, your mind to that unlimited you and you will see the happiness that you will bring to yourself and then you will be like a free bird … flying high in the sky … touching those limitless spaces that you would have never dared to touch, exploring the beautiful “U” that is till now unsung and untold…
Follow your dreams because that’s where your heart belongs … that’s where you belong…. that’s where your happiness… your satisfaction lies and that’s where you exist.
Make those dreams into reality because this universe was also a dream that GOD once imagined…. A dream when given life was so beautifully unique that nothing could match up to its uniqueness.
Indeed, we all are unique. So why do we hide that uniqueness, let it come out, let there be no barriers, no chains that stop you from unlocking the one and only you.
Let no one define your limits … let no one tell you that, “you cannot do it!” because we were born free and we die free..
Don’t let others thoughts affect you because they are the ignorant ones who don’t know what you are capable of…
It is you and you and will always be you who knows the inner you…We humans have the ability to achieve anything in life provided we have the focus and the desire and the zeal to attain it.
Life if full of surprises which we at times un-box and sometimes let them be as a surprise… so don’t let it die without experiencing it as that can be the “one” which completes you.
Make mistakes, learn from it and grow from your experiences… don’t hesitate to cross any horizons….
For we are humans…. not perfect…..we grow as we learn…. we are but a box of surprises hoping to be realized one day….
So keep dreaming…. live it, feel it, pursue it…. for they know your true worth.
Dream says dream me not just because I am a dream….
Dream me coz I want to live, I want to breathe, I want to feel, I want a life…
A life waiting to be lived forever….. Forever in this world to spread love…. experience the unusual … to realize the limitless me…
Limitless me wanting to be caged out from one’s mind that is chained with fear of living … of experimenting… of crossing over the limits that were set for reasons unknown…
Dream says dream me coz I’m meant to live….
